Our projects create new knowledge and bring people together with the goal of making XR accessible to all.
“Prototype for the People” aims to fix the lack of accessible open-source solutions for XR by creating a grassroots campaign to accelerate open-source development and prototyping. Developers should not have to reinvent the wheel to create accessible XR applications!

Storytelling helps us raise awareness and change minds. XR Access is gathering stories from people with disabilities to help show how real people are affected by the accessibility (or lack thereof) of XR technologies. Want to share your story or help us gather stories? We’d love to hear from you!

The XR Accessibility Project, a collaboration between XR Access and the XR Association, is an index of resources for designers and developers who want to create accessible XR products. It’s been recognized by the Digital Public Goods Alliance as an open resource supporting the US sustainable development goals.

Inclusive XR workplace tools aren’t just convenient – they add business value. This research report by the bcXR workstream explains why organizations adopting XR technologies must think about disability inclusion and accessibility as they pivot to hybrid work.

The National Science Foundation-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates program in Accessible XR brings students to the campuses of Cornell Tech and Columbia University for the summer to learn from researchers and industry leaders about creating the accessible XR technologies of the future.

The XR Access Research Network holds regular seminars and conversations that feature new projects from researchers at all levels. Research Network Seminars help researchers share ideas, start new projects, and create collaboration opportunities between academia and industry.

Focus On Accessibility
XR Access has committed to keeping a spotlight on accessibility in multiple cross-industry collaborations. These include the IEEE Global Initiative on the Ethics of Extended Reality, the Metaverse Standards Forum, W3C community groups, the MIT Reality Hack, and more.
